(This section is incomplete – under construction!)
Ultimately, many of the images shown here will be migrated to the flora or fauna sections…. for now these are placeholders for more photos that will ultimately populate this website. Of course, there will be a section that highlights scenery, seasonal changes, or other aspects of the wilderness that are not strictly flora or fauna. For the moment we have put a number of photos here to serve as stimulus for the readers – to either identify the subjects being shown, to to produce better photos! The photo gallery is below.
To help “populate” this website with photos about the Sutton Wilderness, we hope to have a photo “contest” by soliciting photos from the public. The details of the contest have yet to be worked out, but at the minimum if your photos are selected you will receive name recognition. To assure your contribution has a high likelihood of being included consider that there may be many photos of landscapes, a fair amount of bird photos, but almost no photos of mites, leeches, or centipedes! Of course you may have to ask a biologist with specialty in these areas for identification! This “contest” may help budding nature photographers get some additional visibility. We have prepared a webpage to help biologists in field photography here. Hardly a comprehensive photography course, but perhaps useful to field biologists (and those aspiring to become one).
To encourage our readers of this website to take (and submit) better photos of the Sutton Wilderness here are a few that we have taken over the years. Try to identify (mentally) what the subject is, or what the caption should say!
A few miscellaneous photos of grasses and other flora…
